Every few months I google the words “remix project” and see what comes up.
I did this a few weeks ago, and found this cool Mariah Carey remix contest, in support of her newest single, I’ll Be Lovin U Long Time.

I busted out a remix and entered!

Just to change things up a bit…

This is a single off their first album, “Hybrid Theory”. It can also be found on their new “Road to Revolution” live CD/DVD

This is in response to a request by J, who thinks that it’s heavy sound will be hard to imitate on piano and was wondering if I was up to the challenge.
Rather than accent it’s heaviness, (except for the end), I went the complete other direction, and softened it up in this interpretation.
It’s actually a very melodic song once you strip away the beats and distortion, and I tried to bring that to the foreground.

This was a lot of fun to put together, and I think you’ll like it too. Easy to play, and lots of room to breathe and emote. I really enjoyed doing this one…and I think it shows. One of my better performances.

This song is off the Maroon 5 disc, “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long”, which includes a bonus DVD. They also have a remix CD out now, “Call and Response”, which I’ve heard is actually pretty good!

As for this performance, I know it’s not my best, but the arrangement is really really fun to play

This was the first of many big singles off Rihanna’s breakthrough third album, “Good Girl Gone Bad”, which was recently “Reloaded” with extra tracks.

I like this arrangement cuz it’s pretty. tee hee!
